This morning I awoke with an urge to get things done. I have tons of work ahead of me and no end of it is in sight. However I find myself writing about working rather than actually doing the work itself.
I also have some calls to make. These are not going to be pleasant calls.
Call number 1 is going to be to Academic SuperStore asking them to re-ship the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium that they sent me. The discs so far have preformed yet under scrutiny they look warped and feel cheaply made. I can't control that. What I can control is that the DVD case that they came in was completely damaged, broken and bits of plastic have been flying around all over the place.
I also have to call to get a code to install the software. Academic SuperStore has a weird policy that makes you send a photocopy of your current student ID to which they will send you a registration code. However this registration code is not for the software, it's for another company. So you have to talk to company #2, give company #2 the registration code that company #1 gave you so your software will work. It's frustrating as all hell but it saves me two hundred bones. Not only does it save me quite a few bucks but once I get out of school I still get to keep the software and it's a full version of all software published so it's a win win.
So now that I'll have this awesome graphics software installed I might have to learn to use it! I definitely don't have the talents that my friends have in this area either learned or intuitive. Tomb Raider, Whistles and lil miss BTran all have expertise that I really should learn the basics of. My expertise is more in code though however I am going to try more of the art side. I am going to resign myself to failure and suckage. If I produce higher then suck quality work then I will already be able to call my efforts a success.
Anyone got any advice on where to start?
I'll post results of good and bad 'self-assignments' here or at www.mnickey.com
Yes, I re-registered my old domain and while there's a few things there I'll be adding more. If there are things that you'd like to see there as well let me know. If you need web space or want to create a spot I have unlimited sub-domains... Just sayin'.
